  • Do you offer free estimates?

Yes we do. Give us a call or send us a message and someone will get right back to you to schedule an appointment.

  • What causes a short circuit?

A short circuit typically happens when a neutral wire and hot wire come in contact with one another. If a wire is damaged, frayed, or loosened from its original connection, it will likely cause a short circuit because it more susceptible to come in contact with a neutral wire.

  • Should I upgrade all of the outlets in my home to GFCI?

It is definitely a great idea to upgrade. The purpose of GFCI outlets in our homes is to protect us and our loved ones from getting an electrical shock when the outlet comes in contact with moisture. These outlets are equipped with a test/reset button which, when pressed, turns off the GFCI. The reset then turns it back on after it’s been tripped. You'll find these GFCI mostly in bathrooms, garages, basements, and kitchens where water is more likely to be present. If your home is newer, it's likely that you have GFCI outlets especially in the areas I mentioned otherwise your home won't pass building inspection.

  • Why do the lights in my house flicker?

Occasional flickering is common. However, if you notice the flickering happening more often, it can be an indicator that there is a more severe issue going on. The flickering can be occurring because of a loose bulb or an incorrect bulb being used or it can be caused by an overloaded circuit, outdate or loose wiring. It's best to have an electrician access the situation for you to rule out anything serious.

  • How do I know if the wiring in the home I just purchased is up-to-date?

It is difficult for a home inspector to be able to tell you if your wiring is up-to-date. You need a certified electrician to do a thorough inspection. Here are some indicators that you wiring may not be up-to-date:

    1) Two pronged underground outlets

    2) Burning Smell

    3) No GFCI outlets

    4) Shocking sensation when you touch an appliance

    5) Breakers that trip frequently

    6) Fuses that blow frequently

    7) Warm or sparking outlets

    8) Flickering or dimming lights

  • How often should I have my electrical system inspected?

It's recommended that you have your electrical system inspected by a licensed electrician at least once every 10 years, or more frequently if you have an older home or notice any issues with your electrical system.

  • What is the difference between a circuit breaker and a fuse?

A circuit breaker is a switch that automatically shuts off the flow of electricity if there is an overload or short circuit in a circuit, while a fuse is a small, replaceable device that breaks the circuit if there is an overload.

  • Can I do my own electrical work?

In most cases, it's not recommended to do your own electrical work, as it can be dangerous and may not meet local building codes. It's best to hire a licensed electrician for any electrical work you need done.

  • How can I improve the energy efficiency of my home?

You can improve the energy efficiency of your home by installing energy-efficient lighting and appliances, sealing air leaks around doors and windows, adding insulation to your walls and attic, and using a programmable thermostat to control your heating and cooling.

  • Can I install a ceiling fan myself?

Installing a ceiling fan can be a complex job, especially if you need to run wiring to the location where you want the fan. It's generally best to hire a licensed electrician to install a ceiling fan, as we have the experience and knowledge to do the job safely and correctly.
